I handle various English, Swedish or Polish translation and interpretation projects, irrespective of whether these are one-off or continuous ones. I always try to fully comprehend the expectations of my customers in order to ensure that the results of my work meet their needs.
Translation is a process whereby the meaning of a source-language text is communicated by an equivalent target-language text, taking account of any guidelines, glossaries, translation memories or other reference materials that may be provided by the customer, which ensures that the resulting text is truly consistent. I use CAT tools, which significantly expedite the entire translation process without compromising its quality, as well as QA software that checks the files for most common errors.
Localization is a process of cultural adaptation of a given product or service (mostly multimedia content, software, video games, websites) to a particular country or region. It is sometimes required after translation phase with respect to certain elements (colours, currencies, local conventions, names etc.). Obviously, such service can only be provided by persons with in-depth and thorough knowledge of the target culture.
Transcreation is a process aiming at adapting a marketing or advertising document, so that it evokes the same emotions and is perceived by native speakers of any given language without any special difficulties. By transcreating we aim at ensuring that the text maintains its context, intent, style and tone in the new cultural and language environment. The translator’s role here is similar to that of a copywriter, as the entire process requires creativity and unconventional solutions.
